BACKUPS

• WordPress Core – Your WordPress core files are the “backbone” of your website. The core files handle the functionality and behavior of your website, and they are very important to keep backed up.

• Theme – Your WordPress theme dictates the look, feel, and specific functionality of your website.

• Uploads & Media – This includes all your photos, logos, icons, graphics, audio files and videos.

• Plugins – Your installed Plugins add additional features and functionality to your website.

• Database – Your MySQL Database is where all of the text/content of your website gets stored.  This is the most important part of any WordPress website.

• CSS & PHP Edits – Any edits, customizations, or upgrades done by us in the code of your WordPress installation, plugin(s), or theme.

UPDATES

• WordPress Core – WordPress Core must remain updated in order to add features, as well as reduce security breaches and hacking.

• Theme – Every time WordPress core comes out with an update, so will your theme.  The theme “rides upon the back” of WordPress core.  The theme will be updated as soon as updates are available.  We’ll also carry over all my PHP, CSS, and HTML customizations made to the site.

• Plugins – (e.g. Contact Forms, Photo Galleries, Social Media, Custom Fonts, etc) are just like any piece of software, and they must be updated regularly.  As soon as an update comes out, we’ll update the plugin.

BACKUP STORAGE

Each backup of your site takes space, and needs to be stored somewhere.

• Local Backup Storage – We will store a copy of your backup on the same web server that hosts your web site

• Offsite Backup Storage – Not only will we store dated copies of your backups on your web server account, but we will also store a copy ‘in the cloud’, on our secure server.

If a server ever goes down, or your site gets hacked, knowing that your site can easily be restored is a good feeling.

OPTIMIZATION

• SPAM Scan and Cleanup – If unchecked, these can slow down your site’s page load speed.  We’ll make sure to do a monthly scan and clean anything out that doesn’t belong.

• Database Optimization – We will run a complete database optimization/repair scan in MySQL to clean up database tables.  This will keep your site running faster and more efficiently.

• Site Speed – With 3rd party server tools, we will scan the web host to make sure things are running smoothly.  Any issues will be brought to your attention and/or we’ll iron them out with the hosting company.

SECURITY

• Full Security Scan – We will perform a monthly scan to test for Blacklisting, Malware, Malicious Javascript code, Malicious iFrames, Drive by Downloads, Anomaly Detection, IE-only Attacks, Suspicious Redirects, and Spam.

• Hacking Guarantee – Despite on-time updates and security software, there are still occasionally times when hackers can break through and cause harm to your site. If this happens, we will take care of it ASAP, free of charge (this often involves hours of in-depth work).

CONTENT

• Content Edits – We will perform up to two minor edits (up to 30 minutes of time) on your website’s content, layout, or design per month at your request (e.g. changing sizes of font, adding menu items, changing colors, adding/configuring plugins, etc.).

SUPPORT

• Priority Support – We will respond to your support inquiry same business day (and even on weekends, if possible), and before all non-priority requests.

“Do I Really Need Monthly Backups & Updates?”

Your website is built on the “WordPress ecosystem”, and like all things “tech”, they are constantly evolving.

Your WordPress site requires regular maintenance and updates to perform and behave as it should.

And, most importantly, updates are needed to protect your site from malicious attacks (brute force, hacking, spam comments, malware, etc.)

With over 74,652,825 (source) websites running WordPress, it’s constantly prone to hacking and malicious attacks.

To counteract this, the core program of WordPress is constantly being updated to patch “security holes” and “fix bugs”. Core updates also help your site load faster and perform better in the search engines.

Since your theme and your plugins are built “on the back” of WordPress, they as well have regular updates.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How Do I Pay You?

Below you will checkout with PayPal.  The payment source will be connected to your credit card, debit card, or your bank account (this is all administered by PayPal–we do not have access to your data).

Each month, the payment will be automatically paid via your selected payment choice to take the headaches out of billing & invoicing.

2. What If Want to Cancel?

If for any reason, you are unsatisfied with our work, you can cancel your subscription at any time. Just email or call us and we will cancel the recurring invoice within PayPal.

3. What About Additional Work?

Additional work not listed in the chart above will be billed at our regular hourly rate.

4. Can I Still Contact You With Questions?

In short, no–not for free.  We have reached a point in our client work load where we cannot offer free, ongoing email/phone support past the point where your project is completed and delivered.

If you’d like to have us “on your team”, we would suggest that you to sign up for one of our monthly package. If you choose not to, that’s OK–but please be aware that we will be tracking time and billing for any assistance provided.

5. What Are My Alternatives?

If you’d like to learn how to run backups of your database and your site files (WP Core, theme, plugins, and media), as well as update the various pieces of the website, then we can schedule a few (paid) sessions on Skype and teach you.

Note: you will need to be computer savvy and understand some server/web basics.  Also, please make sure to have a text file (or word document) open as you’ll need to take detailed notes (there are many individual steps involved).

6. How Can I Get Started?

It’s simple–just select your desired Monthly Maintenance Package from the drop-down menu below, and then click “Add to Cart.”

You will then be redirected to PayPal to complete the checkout process via your PayPal account (not required) or credit card/bank account.
